Can I make good money driving? That’s the question everyone wants to know, right? The answer is yes. And no. Because a lot of it depends on the carrier you choose!
If you’re searching for a carrier to work for, then you’ve probably noticed that pay rates aren’t the same across the board. Some carriers pay their drivers less per mile while others pay significantly more. You might also find that some carriers don’t offer their drivers much in terms of benefits and bonus pay incentives, but other companies have a long list of extras.
At J&R Schugel, we’re proud that our drivers can earn up to $90,000 a year in total compensation when you add in the average employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) account value, accessorial pay and bonuses. If you’re wondering what exactly that all looks like, here’s a breakdown of our total compensation package:
Solo J&R Schugel company drivers average 2,500-2,800 miles per week and earn up to 55 CPM. Team drivers average 5,500-6,500 per week and earn up to 65 CPM, split.
Accessorial pay and incentives
Our drivers love that we offer a huge $15,000 sign-on bonus and paid orientation. We also provide accessorial pay for stops, detention and layovers, and our performance-plus-pay incentive earns drivers up to an additional 5 CPM every month. Sharing your love for J&R Schugel gets you paid too - earn an additional $2,000 per hired driver through our driver referral program.
J&R Schugel is proud to be a 100% employee-owned company. Our drivers love the benefits of an ESOP - a qualified retirement plan that gives our employees an ownership interest in our company. We make all the contributions into this account - as a driver, you won’t have to contribute a thing. A new J&R Schugel employee who is over 18 years old becomes an elligible participant as of January 1 or July 1 following 12 consecutive months of service from their hire date plus 1,000 hours worked.
Our drivers get paid vacation and holidays.
In addition to our ESOP, company drivers are also able to save for retirement with a 401(k) plan.
